Frequently Asked Questions Pregnancy Support -What is a birth doula?
A birth doula is a trained professional who provides continuous physical, emotional, and informational support before, during, and just after childbirth. My role is to help you feel confident, informed, and deeply supported through every phase. -What does a doula do during pregnancy?
We'll meet prenatally to create a birth plan that reflects your values and preferences. We’ll talk through your options, past experiences, pain management, labor positions, and any concerns or fears you might have—so you can go into your birth feeling prepared and supported. -What kinds of births do you attend?
I support births in hospitals, birth centers, and home settings. The most important thing is that you feel safe, grounded, and supported—wherever that is. -Do you support clients who plan to use pain medication or have a scheduled cesarean?
Absolutely. Whether you choose an epidural, have a planned cesarean, or are unsure what to expect, I will walk with you every step of the way. I’ve supported many medicated and surgical births with tools for comfort, calm, and connection. -Do you offer virtual services?
Yes! I provide virtual doula support including prenatal consultations, labor prep, and postpartum guida
nce—perfect for families outside my area or who prefer remote care. Labor & Birth -What does a doula do during labor?
During labor, I offer hands-on comfort measures like massage with essential oils, counterpressure, rebozo work, and guided position changes. I’m also a steady emotional presence to help you stay grounded and focused, and I support your partner so they can be involved with confidence. Do doulas replace medical staff?
No. Doulas are non-clinical support people. We don’t perform any medical procedures—we work alongside your healthcare team to ensure you feel safe, heard, and emotionally supported throughout your experience. Does a doula replace the role of my husband or partner?
Not at all. I’m here to support both of you. I often help guide partners so they feel empowered to offer comfort and connection. I also provide support when your partner needs to rest, eat, or take a break. My partner is unsure about hiring a doula. Can we talk?
Yes, and this is totally normal. I offer a free consultation to meet with both of you, answer questions, and ease any hesitation. I make every effort to include partners in ways that feel natural, supported, and meaningful. Loss & Bereavement What is a bereavement doula?
As a bereavement doula, I offer compassionate, nonjudgmental support to families experiencing miscarriage, stillbirth, termination for medical reasons (TFMR), or fatal diagnoses. This care is sacred, quiet, and deeply personal—and I am here to hold space through every layer of it. Postpartum & Placenta Do you offer postpartum support?
Yes. My postpartum services include emotional support, newborn care education, feeding guidance, and space for you to rest, process, and be held. You do not have to navigate the early days alone. Do you offer placenta encapsulation?
Yes. I use the Raw Method and vegetarian capsules. Clients have reported increased energy, milk production, and emotional stability. Encapsulation typically takes 48 hours after birth, and yields range from 100–250 capsules.
Videography & Creative Work Do you film births or postpartum?
Yes, I offer intimate, documentary-style videography for both births and postpartum. If you're interested in capturing your story with care and intention, we can add that to your doula package or book it as a standalone service.
Pricing, Access & Values Are your services covered by insurance?
Most insurance plans do not currently cover doula services, but some families have received partial reimbursement by submitting an appeal or claim. I can provide receipts to help with this process. What if I can’t afford your fee?
I believe everyone who wants a doula should have one. I offer sliding scale options, payment plans, and occasionally barter arrangements. Please reach out—let’s talk. Can I include my spiritual or religious beliefs in this experience?
Absolutely. This is your story, your space. I am here to honor your values and walk with you in the ways that feel most meaningful to you. What makes your approach unique?
I’ve been supporting families for over 14 years. I’m also a mother, a widow, a former surrogate, and someone who believes deeply in walking through both the beauty and ache of life with honesty and grace. My work is trauma-informed, spiritually sensitive, and grounded in calm, unwavering presence.
