Weaving together truth, story, and soul to make meaning from life’s mess and magic.
Laney Sweet, or Laneybird, is a soul who has walked through both the beauty and the ache of life with open hands. A mother of two, the widow of Daniel Shaver, a newlywed wife, a former surrogate, and a current student at Belmont University focusing in Music Business, she carries each chapter with reverence. With a background in birthwork, music, visual storytelling, and social advocacy—with a focus on racial justice and police brutality—Laney brings presence, purpose, and a quiet kind of strength to every space she enters. She’s also a closet musician herself (though she’s more likely to write a song at 2 a.m. than share it with anyone).
As a trained Birth, Postpartum, and Bereavement Doula, Laney has supported families through some of life’s most sacred transitions. Her work as a videographer—capturing births, weddings, and quiet in-between moments—reflects her love for preserving the raw, authentic beauty of human connection. Vulnerability.
Her life’s work is rooted in honoring the human experience—the messy, beautiful, painful, and profound. She’s drawn to the sacred spaces where transformation happens, whether through advocacy, art, or simply holding space for someone who needs to be seen. Whether fighting for justice, nurturing a new life into the world, or helping others find meaning in their own stories—through music, conversation, or film—Laney shows up with honesty, heart, and a deep belief in the power of connection.
Her motto: be relentless | be sound.
